In the trendy new community space of Fargate’s Virgin Money, Sheffield Mind set up a drop in session for those living with mental health issues.

Alongside members of the public, Office Friendly staff heard about the new beneficial projects on offer. As a keen supporter of Sheffield Mind, Office Friendly was eager to discuss exciting new initiatives and strengthen ties. Lindsay and Kirsty, of Sheffield Mind, joined Julie Hawley, Marilyn Caster, and Michael Hudson to discuss the agenda in more detail.

Office Friendly also delivered a cheque for donations raised at Main Conference 2016. Using justgiving and a silent auction at the event, £3100.10 was raised for Sheffield Mind. The money will go towards the upkeep of group services like art therapy and walking tours. Group exercises are often calming experiences, offering the chance for new hobbies, and opportunities to meet people socially.

Lindsay Doyle-Price, Business Development Manager at Sheffield Mind said: “We believe that everyone can do a lot to improve their mental health and they promote self help and empowerment as a route to prevention and recovery.

“By providing support tailored to each individual’s needs we can help people overcome their difficulties, become more emotionally resilient and be more able to cope positively in the future. Particular challenges faced at present are removing the stigma of mental health issues and also encouraging men to talk about their feelings and wellbeing.”

Sheffield Mind is an independent charity set up in 1971. As part of a large network of over 170 local Mind associations across England and Wales which are affiliated to Mind nationally, they concentrate on providing assistance to those living in the Sheffield region.

Services include one-on-one counseling, budget management, employment support, and the Sheffield Mental Health Guide, information and contact details to groups, resources and more for those who would benefit.

Office Friendly is to continue to support the work of Sheffield Mind and to work with them in the future. For more information about Sheffield Mind visit www.sheffieldmind.co.uk and to learn more about the charitable work of Office Friendly visit www.officefriendly.co.uk
